Transportation to the Biathlon World Championships in Ruhpolding

How you get to Ruhpolding
Shuttle Bus Service to the Chiemgau Arena

The bus stop Bahnhof (train station)/ChampionsPark will be in the town center. From there you can board the shuttle busses to take you to the Chiemgau Arena free of charge.

Free shuttle bus services will also be available from the parking lots in Ruhpolding, Inzell and Reit im Winkl.

After the events in the Chiemgau Arena, there will be shuttle busses to take you to the ChampionsPark or directly to the parking lots.

The shuttle busses between the parking lots, the Bahnhof/ChampionsPark bus stop and the Chiemgau Arena are free of charge for everyone with an admission ticket.

The shuttle service will begin on the first training day from parking lots 3 (Bahnhof) und 4 (Speedwaystadion).

Arrival by Train

For each day you have a valid biathlon World Championship admission ticket, you are entitled to a round trip train ticket between Traunstein, Waging, Traunreut and Siegsdorf and Ruhpolding. For travel from thoughout Bavaria, the DB Regio offers attractive prices. You can use the Bayern-Ticket to travel comfortably and stree free to Ruhpolding.

Arrival by Car

There are NO parking spaces for cars at the Chiemgau Arena.

If you are taking the A8 München-Salzburg Autobahn, take the Traunstein/Siegsdorf (112) exit and follow the signs to the parking lots in Ruhpolding und Inzell set up especially for the Biathlon World Championships.There will be signs at the main crossings to ensure that you are guided to a free parking spot.
From the parking lots you can use the shuttle busses to get to the Chiemgau Arena.

If you are arriving from the Salzburg/Berchtesgaden area, you can travel directly along the German Alpine Highway to Inzell and park in the parking lots set up there. From there you can take the shuttle busses to the Chiemgau Arena.

From Austria and Reit im Winkl park in the parking lots in Reit im Winkl and then the shuttle bus to the Chiemgau Arena.

Arrival by Fanbus

There will NOT be parking spaces at the Chiemgau Arena for busses.
There will be a parking lot for fan busses at the Holzknechtmuseum (Lumber Jack Museum). From there you can reach the Chiemgau Arena by foot in about half an hour along the designated path.

Town Bus Line

The Ruhpolding town bus line can be used free of charge during the Biathlon World Championships with your entrance ticket.

Foot paths

A “WM-Trail” has been set up to take you from the Ruhpolding village center to the Chiemgau Arena away from the main roads. You can also walk along this path to return to Ruhpolding after the events. The walk is about 5 km and takes a bit over an hour.

Arrival by Airplane

The Munich Airport is located 150 km from Ruhpolding. From the airport it is most practical to travel by train to Ruhpolding.

The Salzburg Airport is 40 km from Ruhpolding. From the Salzburg Airport, you can travel to Ruhpolding by car or taxi taking the A8 freeway (Autobahn) or the alpine highway via Bad Reichenhall/Inzell.
